Program Description:
With the support of their academic advisor, New College students can design a self-directed off-campus study contract that includes a combination of tutorials sponsored by New College professors and other educational activities, such as an internship or research, that require students to be away from campus for a semester.  The self-directed off-campus study contract should reflect course work and activities that equal the same amount of study and academic rigor as a contract completed on campus.  This option requires a high degree of independence, organization, good time-management skills, disciplined study habits, strong motivation and commitment, and entails coordinating long-distance progress reports and feedback with sponsors.  Students who choose this off-campus study option must remain enrolled full-time with at least 3 units of New College tutorials as negotiated in their New College Academic Contract.
