Program Description:
Language and Culture in Mexico
Specialized summer language and culture study in a community-based context

Based in Cuernavaca, the capital of the Mexican state of Morelos in central Mexico, this exciting summer program offers coursework in Spanish language and culture, with a focus on contemporary issues in peace, justice, and human rights. 

The program is taught over four, 3.5 week sessions, and students can opt for more than one session, taking up to three courses over the course of the summer. An array of excursions, a trip to Mexico City, invited guest experts, and a commitment to maintaining a community-based ethos through participation in homestays characterize this unique opportunity. 

Customizable - choose from language courses such as Business Spanish, Spanish for Ministry, and Spanish for Healthcare Professionals.

Cuernavaca is known as the “City of Eternal Springtime” for its mild, enjoyable weather. Your home base there will be the “Casa Augsburg,”  is located in the San Antón neighborhood, a 15-20 minute walk from downtown.

Cuernavaca also boasts many grassroots organizations and alternative health practices and is known for its history of advocacy for the rights of Indigenous people, women, LGBTQ people, workers, and environmental sustainability.

An internship option, as well as an independent research option, is available with this program.
